About the Foundation

The Together Against Cancer Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that carries out charitable activities and implements projects in the fields of oncology and palliative care in Kazakhstan.

The Foundation was established in 2008 on the initiative of oncologists and civic activists in response to the need to support patients and to advance accessible, high-quality cancer care.

Today, the Foundation is recognized as a stable and respected contributor in the field of oncology and palliative care in Kazakhstan, combining public awareness initiatives, professional expertise, and active participation in the development of system-level solutions.

Over the years, the Foundation has implemented numerous projects — from informational and educational initiatives to efforts that have contributed to improving clinical practice and the organization of care within the healthcare system.

Vision

A Kazakhstan in which every person — adult or child — has access to a full continuum of high-quality cancer care: from prevention and early detection to treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care — and does not face their diagnosis alone.

Mission

To contribute to the development of accessible and high-quality cancer care in Kazakhstan
by bringing together the efforts of society, the medical community, the state, and partners.

Objectives

In accordance with its charter, the Foundation pursues the following objectives:

• to contribute to improving the effectiveness of oncology services in the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• to increase public awareness of cancer prevention and early detection;
• to support patients and their families by ensuring access to reliable information, psychological and social support, as well as the resources necessary to obtain medical care;
• to contribute to the development of palliative care and care systems for patients with severe oncological conditions;
• to support the development of the professional community and improve the quality of medical care.

Key Areas of Activity

To achieve its objectives, the Foundation implements projects in the following areas:

Public awareness and education
Increasing awareness of cancer prevention, early detection, and modern approaches to treatment.

Support for patients and their families
Development and dissemination of accessible informational materials, as well as educational and advisory formats aimed at improving patient awareness and navigation within the healthcare system.

Education and support for professionals
Organization of training activities and support for the adoption of modern knowledge and practices in oncology and palliative care.

Integration of palliative care
Participation in the development and integration of palliative care into oncology services in the Republic of Kazakhstan, including the development and implementation of care models and contribution to the improvement of the regulatory framework.

Research and analytical activities
Participation in scientific and applied projects aimed at introducing modern diagnostic and treatment methods, analyzing needs, and improving the practice of cancer care delivery.

Partnership and infrastructure projects
Implementation of joint initiatives with governmental, non-governmental, and international organizations, including support for healthcare institutions and the development of their infrastructure.

Our Approach

The Foundation is focused on systemic solutions and sustainable change.

Its activities are carried out within the framework of its charter and are aimed at projects that improve the accessibility and quality of care for a broad range of patients.

The Foundation’s primary focus is to contribute to the development and effectiveness of the cancer care system, including public awareness, education, and support for the professional community. In this context, the Foundation does not organize individual fundraising campaigns for medical treatment, focusing instead on initiatives that deliver long-term and scalable impact.

We believe that advancing cancer care requires coordinated efforts from the state, the professional community, and society as a whole.
